Plan the border, airport and mountain transfer as one journey

Mount Elbrus is reached through Russia’s North Caucasus. Entry rules, government travel advice, international payment access and flight schedules can change independently of the climbing programme. Check each of them before paying for flights or non-refundable services.

Read your government’s current travel advice first

Some governments advise their citizens against all travel to Russia and place specific restrictions on travel in the North Caucasus or near Mount Elbrus. Elbrus Tours cannot override that advice or decide whether the journey is appropriate for your nationality, residence, insurance or personal circumstances.

Check your own visa route

Use the official Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-visa portal to confirm eligibility, permitted entry points, passport validity and the current application procedure.

Use MRV as the planning hub

Mineralnye Vody International Airport (IATA: MRV) is the planned gateway for the group transfer to the Elbrus valley.

Confirm the departure in writing

The airport transfer is part of the operational itinerary only after the office confirms the date, meeting point and departure in writing.

STEP 1

Visa and entry checks

Do not rely on a tour page, an old screenshot or another traveller’s visa. The official e-visa portal is the starting point for eligible nationalities; other travellers may need a different visa process. Confirm that your passport, nationality, planned border crossing and travel dates satisfy the rules shown when you apply.

  • Check whether your nationality is eligible for the unified e-visa.
  • Confirm that the planned airport or border point accepts your visa type.
  • Verify passport-validity and blank-page requirements.
  • Keep the visa, passport, insurance and booking documents accessible during the journey.
  • Review immigration registration requirements for every stay.

STEP 2

Flights to Mineralnye Vody

Search for Mineralnye Vody International Airport using the code MRV. International itineraries commonly involve a connection, and schedules can change by season. Check the operating airline and airport directly before purchase rather than relying on a permanent list of flights.

Scheduled arrival by 13:30

The planning rule for the main group transfer leaves time for baggage collection and assembly.

15:00 planned departure

The main group vehicle leaves only on the date and conditions stated in the written confirmation.

19:30 possible departure

A second group departure is optional and operates only after written office confirmation.

Check live airport information at the official Mineralnye Vody Airport website. A delayed flight is not automatically held indefinitely; the office may quote a private transfer or another confirmed option.

BEFORE PAYMENT

Confirm how you can pay

Cards issued outside Russia may not work inside Russia. Ask your bank what remains available for your card and jurisdiction, and request the accepted lawful payment method in writing before committing to the trip.

  • Do not assume Apple Pay, Google Pay or an overseas card will work.
  • Do not carry or transfer funds in a way that breaches customs, sanctions or banking rules.
  • Keep enough contingency for meals, transfers and an unexpected extra night.

BEFORE THE MOUNTAIN

Verify insurance in writing

Ordinary travel insurance may exclude mountaineering, high altitude, search and rescue, or travel to a destination covered by an official advisory. Ask the insurer to confirm the activity, maximum altitude, territory and evacuation cover in writing.

  2. Confirm visa eligibility and entry rules on the official portal.
  3. Choose flights to MRV that fit a confirmed transfer, allowing disruption margin.
  4. Confirm a lawful payment method before booking non-refundable travel.
  5. Obtain written insurance confirmation for altitude, rescue and destination coverage.
  6. Send the office your preferred Saturday, group size and valley accommodation choice.
  7. Pay only after receiving the complete written offer and confirmed operating details.
